Exchange 2003->2007 migration
Hi, I have Exchange 2007 installed in a domain with a single Exchange 2003 server running OWA. I guess I need a pointer as to how to migrate over to 2007....I'm not really interested in Co-existience. The Exchange 2003 server is a single computer/stand-alone running Server 2003 R2 Sp2. The new server is 2008x64 (not R2) in a hosted environment, with a seperate x64 2003 server for the boundary/gateway role. I have a second 2003 R2 32-bit server running as the domain controller...that's about it. Echange 2007 installed fine and I've patched it up to Sp2 but I don't see the 2003 server or message store.Any advise is much appreciated.Barnaby Duncan barnaby@naiahedc.org

Hi,To migrate the mailbox to the new Exchange 2007 within the same forest, please refer to the below article:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997617(EXCHG.80).aspxAfter that, you may remove the legacy Exchange server, please ensure all the clients's profile has been switched to the new Exchange server automatically before moving the legacy Exchange server.The process is as below:1, move-mailbox happens2, Outlook attempts to connect to old location of mailbox3, Exchange at the old location says "nope, not there - try here instead" (this is called a referral) based on the information in Active Directory4, Outlook attempts to connect to new location of mailbox5, Connection successful!6, Outlook updates profile and always goes to new location from now onFor more information, view the article:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288905(EXCHG.80).aspxThanksAllen

Thanks Allen,You suggestion and the article were very helpful.I think the strangeness of the UI threw me off for a bit. Here's where I'm at today:1. I tried moving my own mailbox to the new store/server, and it went great...I was able to connect in the new OWA and everything.2. I then moved my mailbox back, since I was now ready to start changing the message flow.3. I tested message flow on the new Edge Xport server, using ELHO, but the message is always kicked out: (550 5.7.1) Message rejected as SPAM by content filtering.Any ideas on testing message flow without having to switch over the routers?BarnabyBarnaby Duncan barnaby@naiahedc.org

Hi,Do you mean the email was rejected when sending from the Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007? If it is, please understand that the legacy Exchange server is trusted which can bypass the Anti-spam filter. Thus, you need to check whether the "Legacy Exchange Servers" option was checked under Permission Groups tab on the Receive Connector in Exchange 2007.ThanksAllen
